depends on the color - if you go skin town then it's and smooth in well it's ok to add some touch up. I've added it to take the grayness out of my under the eye. But if it doesn't cover up with just a little then go heavier to cover but you will have to cover the whole thing up. If I use white then I have to go back over it with foundation. If I use the tinted wand liquid then I can use just a little under the eye without looking to noticiable.
if you don't wear other make up to blend it, concealer may not be the best choice. try an under eye ';bightener';. also, applying a highlighter to the corner of the eye and along the sides of the top of your nose (proximal to the eye's corner), will steer the focus upward away from your bags.
It's fine to just have a concealer similar to your skin tone. If there is an obvious glow, add a tiny bit of makeup powder over the concealer.

This will make the blood start moving and circles go away. Not always is it settled blood but these two things are worth a try. It works for me every time. I work at a sephora and it is one thing we learned in training.
Also if you do use concealer, only use it on that line, not the whole eye. There are very good ones out there that wont give you that raccoon look.

This is very simple. To cover dark circles, use a YELLOW based concealer... any brand. To cover red (blemishes), use a GREEN based concaler... any brand. Don't be afraid, they look like lipsticks and are either bright yellow or bright green. They work miracles. Mean while believe it or not haemorrhoid cream helps, it takes out the swelling and calms the underlying blood vessels.
Go easy on the concealer, too much and you have every crease looking like the Grand Canyon.

Try 'Ooh La Lift' from Benefit. It's pricey but very good!
I have these, yeah, best one is the Bourjois brush on one, can't remember what its called, but comes in beige pen with pink writing and pink see through lid. Created especially for these circles, can't say it covers them completely, but the light diffusing pigments really reduce them and mine are bad. I've tried everything. Use a good dark cicle reducing eye cream and try to get to sleep before midnight whenever possible, picking up 7-8 hours sleep minimum as often as you can. This stick costs about 拢6 and really works well, I've tried everything and anything else good will set you back nearly 拢100.
CUT SLICES OF RAW potato or cucumber and keep them on ur eyes for a while.i have the same problem and i know the get some sleep thing is crap.

The best makeup trick ever from Carmindy on What Not To Wear: use a pale pink shimmer liner/shadow crayon and draw it right onto your circles. Blend slightly. The pink color conceals the redness, and the shimmers reflect the light so that under eye circles literally disappear right before your eyes! I have horrible under eye circles and this works! Make sure you blend it well but nothing works better.

The best makeup trick ever from Carmindy on What Not To Wear: use a pale pink shimmer liner/shadow crayon and draw it right onto your circles. Blend slightly. The pink color conceals the redness, and the shimmers reflect the light so that under eye circles literally disappear right before your eyes! I have horrible under eye circles and this works! Make sure you blend it well but nothing works better.

On the Tyra Banks show, a makeup artist showed a tip that I have used again and again. With your foundation, (liquid or powder) get some on your finger and pat it underneath your eye, right where the under eye bag is. Go all under your eye, patting with your pointer finger. Keep patting until the darkness is concealed and do that with your other eye. Make sure you use your finger, not a brush. I have dark circles under my eyes. I've tried a couple of different concealers (the most recent one was by neutrogena and it came in a pen w/ a brush tip) but none of them seem to do a great job. Either they don't cover enough, or they get so cakey that it all ends up in the tiny lines under my eyes, making them way more pronounced.

Now, using makeup will not totally get rid of your dark circles. I would say that the best thing is for you to get AT LEAST 10 hours of sleep and take a multi-vitamin every morning/night. Make sure that you are eating three healthy meals a day.

if you have blue-purplish eyes then use a yellow concealer
if you have green colored under-eyes, then i suggest using a pinkish colored concealer.
it helps balance out the colors to make your face look fresh (:

also every morning when you wake up...rub you eyes gently for 1 min or more relax, massage it and that will help reduce it...

10 fruits and vegetables a day....it works for water retention around the eyes too!
I am guessing you eat a lot of refined sugars and fried foods/fast food/microwave meals. Try eating a healthy diet and exercising. Honey, it works wonders. It's the best skin care in the world. Nothing topical will cure any skin problems, only proper nourishment and at least 20 mins of cardio and weight lifting a day.

NYC (New York Color) has a great line of cover sticks that are great, same with Maybelline, they are great for under eye circles because they have a hint of yellow in them that cover up circles really well. If you like creme concealers, Revlon colorstay is great because its water proof. Also you can try other stuff, like cucumbers or tea bags, I actually take some ice and press it agains the circles and it refreshes me right away. Well, I'm 15, and I get really dark kinda marks under my eyes. I get enough sleep, usually 8+ hours, I think it's more genetic. I want to know what the best concealer is to cover this, I don't need one that covers spots really, as I don't get many. So far I have tried boot's own concealer, and found it too clumpy, obvious, and wears off easily. I have found similar things with Rimmel's concealer too. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good concealer that is not too expensive. As I am a teenager I don't have much money :)

well my mom is a makeup artist and she does celebrity makeup...we live in LA...she always uses the same color as the rest of the face but put a slightly lighter powder on top of it and then does the rest of the face with a powder that matches the skin tone.

Get a shade of concealer a half step lighter than your skin tone to compensate for the darkness under your eye bags, then blend well with a sponge or with your clean fingers. Set off with a dusting of loose powder.
Cotton balls soaked with cold milk is a quick-fix remedy I swear by when it comes to puffy eyes. Hold them over your eyes for about a minute, or until your body heat warms them. You should be good after that.

Ahhh.... poor thing. I am cursed with the same problem. I was advised to hold icepacks over my eyes for 10mins B4 applying makeup to reduce puffiness. Also there is such a thing as a green concealer which helps cover under eye bags. Then put your normal makeup over the top.

What kind of concealer is best for dark under-eye circles?
I currently use a Stila concealer, it has fine colour and coverage, but it doesn't ever really seem to dry, and always seems a little sticky, so I can't recommend it. If I knew of one that worked well and reliably, I wouldn't be shopping around for a good one, myself. Maybe next time I will try Elizabeth Arden (I like the foundation), or M.A.C....
A few things, though....
It might not just be lack of sleep and thin under-eye skin, as so many people say... Some of us actually tan under our eyes, more than any other part of our face, so try wearing a high-caliber sunblock under the eyes, and sunglasses when you are outside.
When you apply the concealer, work from the outside in toward the corners, to avoid stretching and damaging the delicate skin. Also, be aware of the ingredients in the make-up. I have noticed that some of the cheaper brands irritate the skin, and actually make the circles worse, with the rings deepening, so even if the colour matches the overall skintone, the deep lines are still visible.

First, I think sleeping regularly and early, improving your blood circulation such as excercising, and use tea-bags/ cucumber as eye masks/treatments can help to lesson the dark undereye circles. In terms of ';hiding'; them by make ups, I think you can try Neutrogena's eye concealer with has SPF 20. I used that and the texture is thin so you can determine how much is needed to cover your circles. There are A LOT of under eye concealers and I think the hot one is BeneFit's Bo-ing (cost ~18usd).
I've heard that if you smidge red lipstick under the dark circles and blend with concealer,it helps!!
But it depends on the tone of your skin about what concealer is best for you.

Ok girl. You need an orange concealer. Orange in fact is the only one colour that eliminates blue. You have to pat it as well on the zone that you have to cover and not to drag it over the blue unless you won't have the right coverage. Be careful not to rub as the eye area is very sensitive!

Third, I use a product called Extreme Eye Rescue made specifically for the eye area. After several weeks of application, I've noticed that the dark circles have lightened.

I bought the dream matte mousse foundation, and unfortunately, I believe it gave me a mini break out. I still like the product's creamy, easily blendible texture (Not to mention I lost the receipt..)

Using it as an under eye concealer would not be fine. Evidently there are chemicals in that product that do not go well with your skin DNA which caused a breakout. Your skin under your eyes is much more sensistive than other areas, therefore the breakout would most likely be worst. I would go to a cosmetolgist and bring the foundation with you, so you can get some adivce which would be a better product for your skin.
OK, it doesn't matter what all these other people tell you, the answer is quite basically up to your age. If your a teen or very young adult, your going to experience untimely and unsightly bumps. It could, however, really be because of your new make-up, in which case, no, you should DEFINITLY NOT put it under your eyes. Unless you have really bad skin, you shouldn't use foundation anyway! It covers your natural blush and any other beauty marks you may naturally have! If you want to cover your eyes and lips in 1,000 different products, be my guest, but women shouldn't degrade their natural beauty with products they don't need in the first place.....

Touche Eclat by Yves St Laurent is brilliant stuff but pricy. The best (and bestselling - apparently one of these is sold every nine minutes or something) budget concealer is good old Hide The Blemish by Rimmel (it's about 拢3-4 now I think - I seem to remember the first one I ever bought was about 49p!). Use a brush (lip brush-type chisel ended ones are good) to put it on %26amp; don't pull or rub the skin near your eyes with your fingers; it blends in really well with a bit of gentle dabbing and patting. Christian Dior makes 2 products that help mine A LOT! The first one is their Long-Wearing Moisturizing Concealer. It hides mine so well. I inherited my circles from my Cherokee grandmother. I've tried loads and they never worked great until I got YSL Touche Eclat. it will work on under eyes, blemishes, spots red lines, everything. Yes its expensive but well worth every penny. I use it every morning and then don't need full foundation during the day. Be like me and get someone going through duty free to buy it, savings are very good.
Go into the body shop and for 拢5 get a tub of strawberry boddy butter, it works for me!!!

I've tried loads and they never worked great until I got YSL Touche Eclat. it will work on under eyes, blemishes, spots red lines, everything. Yes its expensive but well worth every penny. I use it every morning and then don't need full foundation during the day. Be like me and get someone going through duty free to buy it, savings are very good.

I cannot seem to find a good concealer for dark circles. I used to use MAC liquid concealer but by the end of the day my eyes would look crusty and caked up. I tried Bare Minerals bisque but it didn't cover enough. I am currently using liquid Amazing concealer, and it's caking up again. Before applying, I use a lot of moisturizer under my eyes and a primer, and I apply the liquid with a sponge. The liquid doesn't seem to be working and neither does the mineral wear, and I'm finding that my eyes look smoother without it on, but the circles are still there. hey there, the one thing i know about is fine lines and coverage, when u look for a concealer go for one thats designed for an older skin type, it will have plenty of moisture and light reflecting pigments that will help lighten under your eyes..it should be in liquid form, not a stick or pallet.... dab it on with yr ring finger all around your eye area, if u want more coverage apply two coats, depending on my weekly budget i buy either loreal or lancome (look for concealers called names like age defying or age rewind or mature skin) and never ever use powder....any thing else i can help u with please dont hesitate..What is the best under-eye concealer for a dry skin? 10 POINTS!!?
Mary Kate and Ashley has an amazing concealer for under your eyes, it has liquid and a stick, you put 3 dots under your eyes of the liquid and rub it in, then you take the stick and rub it underneath and with your fingers, run it in. the good thing about it is that it stays on for a really long time and its smooth.

I use ';Select Cover-Up'; By MAC.
It works really very good. Its a little tube that cost about $20. But its so worth it. It makes the dark circles go away almost completely and it evens out your skin tone.
I buy mines at the mall at Macy's or Dillard's.

My eyes always seem to have a tired look and I, almost everyday, apply concealer under my eyes to reduce the look. Makesure it matches your skin tone. If it is too light you will lose out on some of the coverage %26amp; if it is too dark you will look even darker under the eyes. If i was you, id go with one a shade lighter than your skin colour or foundation if your wearing foundation. But make sure you try it out before you buy it, try different ones, but make roughly a shade lighter. this is amazing for bags under the eye, off colored skin and covering spots, :)

try using something that has like a tint of green in it. Because green kinda corects it if its really pinkishg just like you use green tint on your face if you got red realy easly. The green shoudnt be noticible but it really works!

It should be slightly lighter than your foundation. Many people say that getting one in an orangey tone will cancel out the bluish dark circles under your eyes. Similarly you can use greenish coloured concealer on reddish parts of your face to cancel out the redness.

If i was you, id go with one a shade lighter than your skin colour or foundation if your wearing foundation. But make sure you try it out before you buy it, try different ones, but make roughly a shade lighter. Make sure your wearing the foundation that you wear while your trying on the concealers to make sure it all looks natural.
It should really be slightly lighter than your skin color, but not too light because otherwise you would look silly :)
i don't use concealer because i use dream matte mouse,
this is amazing for bags under the eye, off colored skin and covering spots, :)
but even if you don't have any of those problems it makes you look flawless!

try using something that has like a tint of green in it. Because green kinda corects it if its really pinkishg just like you use green tint on your face if you got red realy easly. The green shoudnt be noticible but it really works!
Yes, a lighter colour than your make- up. As most people have lighter skin around their eyes- many concealers only come in fair, medium and dark anyway. If you're unsure visit a make-up counter where they can help and advise you.

Can I use a blemish concealer under my eyes?

I've tried using mac and elizabeth arden concealers for the under eye skin and when i first put it on it looks fine but after a little while the skin under my eye looks dry and flaky so i am always rewashing my face with burts bees makeup wash. i just want the skin under my eyes to look smooth and not flaky.
by the way...before i put the concealer on my skin is smooth but when i apply the concealer it starts to look dry. :(
please help with suggestions on how to fix this problem!

You should try a moisturizer before you apply concealer, I find that Dove works best for my skin but everyone has different skin, try different brands. Before resorting to moisturizers, try gently exfoliating and using a little bit of Vaseline.
That happens to me too! I use a little bit of Estee Lauder Idealist and mix it with the concealer or apply Idealist first. You need to apply some sort of moisturizer first.
i would recommend using a thicker moisturizer. a good one is Aveeno Positively Radiant. I use it and I love it! I had the same problem as you before too. You can also try putting a bit of moisturizer into your concealer.
Is the concealer your using a liquid? This could be a big problem... especially if you have sensitive skin or live in a humid area. Try a powder. Theres a great one by Physicians Formula.
use eye cream. i suggest using like cover girl liquid concealer. it works magic!
Its probably your skin itself that is dry, not the concealer. If your skin is dry, then applying concealer will exaggerate it and make it look EXTRA dry. Try using moisturizer for a week or so, morning and night. then try your concealer again and see how things work out
Put moisterizer on every single night before you go to bed.

I was told by a makeup artist that if you apply a lil bit of Radiance Boost underye circles cream (from Neutrogena) leave it on for like 10-15 or whenever it soaks in n then some concealer with a damp sponge. That lessens the darkness, give it a try :)

Never looks cakey, covers imperfections. :]

You need to moisturize or moisturize and prime before you put on the concealer. Most any eye moisturizer or really gentle facial moisturizer will work. I have really dark under eyes and that's what I do. :D

i use MAC concealer too, the studio finish one. here are some tips so it doesnt look flakey:
1. try using a brush. i use an eye crease brush with mine, and it goes on way better than if i just use my finger or some other kind of brush. i just my brush for just $3 at Target.
2. when i brought the concealer, the MAC lady gave me this primer kind of lotion thing that you put on before the concealer so the concealer won't go into your creases. i forgot the name, but if you go back to MAC, then they should be able to figure out what you're talking about.
3. make sure you cover the concealer up by putting foundation on top of it. if you just but on the concealer, it can make the area look dry.
try NARS concealer,they have great colors and their makeup is made to be used with your fingers. its my favorite concealer for blemishes %26amp; under the eyes

Then you wanna go with a non-cakey textured concealer, my all time fav is Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Collection concealer in the pink based colour All Over Light. Its going to look really pinky purple but PLEASE try it. I have had under eye circles forever and this stuff blows everything else away. It creates the illusion of light under the eye and makes you look fresh and wide awake. I LOVE IT.
Exfoliate your skin tonight. Tomorrow wash and moisturize your skin before you put make up on. It could be your skin is dry or you need to use too much concealer or it's the wrong type of concealer for your skin type. Try getting a makeup primer and using that before you put any concealer on.

I've been using YSL for ages, and its ok but accentuates creases and bumpy texture of skin underneath if i use very much at all. Someone told me about Dermablend- is this any better??Or any good at all??And are there any other concealers worth a try?
